March on with your bad green self at this years Veggie Pride Parade. The parade promotes a vegetarian and vegan life style and makes the case for it on its website through educations videos linked in from other organizations. The route is set to begin at the convergence of Little West 12th street, Gansevoort Street, Greenwich Street and 9th avenue and ends up in Union Square. The event hosts a number of speakers, performers and exhibitors. You can download a program guide here and download a flier about the event with the parade route on it.
The organizations goals are are as follows:
For a Veggie Pride Parade, there could be as many goals as there are vegetarians and vegans. Just the same, the organizers of the event feel the need to state their aspirations for the parade, ones that can be shared by all.
- To set a positive example by standing proud and standing up for the veg’n lifestyle.
- To show our true love of animals, which must include farmed animals.
- To celebrate our healthy diet.
- To educate about the issues surrounding today’s cruel, unsustainable, and exploitative meat-, egg-, and dairy-production systems.
- To encourage meat eaters—through advocacy and example—to join us in our compassionate way of living.
Ain’t nuthin’ wrong with that. Horns up! \m/
